PRESENT PERFECT

WHERE IS EVERYONE?

Julia has gone to the Post Office.
Mariska has left work for the day.
Gabriela and Tomio have gone to meet a client.
Barry has taken some files to the store-room.
Park hurt himself and has gone to the doctor.

How is the present perfect tense different to the simple past tense?
Let's look at the difference in meaning.

Julia has gone to the Post Office. (present perfect)
This tells us something about the present. - Julia isn't back yet.
Julia went to the Post Office. (simple past)
This only tells us about the past. We know that Julia went, but we don't know where she is now.
