HOW TO MAKE PANCAKES
Do you enjoy pancakes? Are they popular in your country? Do you eat them with sweet food?

One of my hobbies is cooking. My mother was German and I grew up eating German food. When I left home I discovered all kinds of food. Today I love to cook Chinese, Italian, Turkish and Japanese food.

I remember once as a child going into a pancake parlour and eating American pancakes. They were light and fluffy. The were served with ice-cream and maple syrup. My mother’s pancakes were very different. Hers were more like a crepe, they had a lot of egg.

Recently I learnt how to make American pancakes. They are very easy and they are delicious. I often make them now for Sunday breakfast.

Here’s how you do it:

AMERICAN PANCAKES
Ingredients:
2 cups of self raising flour (self raising flour is plain flour with baking powder already mixed in)
2 tsp baking powder (tsp = teaspoon)
2 tbsp sugar (tbsp = tablespoon)
½ tsp salt
2 eggs
2 tbsp oil
2 cups milk

Method:
Mix the dry ingredients together. Add eggs, oil and milk and whisk together. The batter may be a little lumpy.
Put a few tablespoons of oil in a frying pan and heat it up. Make sure it is hot.
Pour a spoonful of the mixture into the pan. Cook on one side until bubbles appear. Turn the pancake over and cook for one minute more or until the bottom side is golden.
Serve with fruit and maple syrup.
