SOUTH KOREA

Do you come from South Korea? Do you agree with this article?

When you speak to a Korean, you should use their title (Mr, Mrs, Dr etc) and their family name. Wait for them to invite you to use their first name.

Married women keep their maiden name. They don't use their husband's family name.

When two people meet usually the younger person will greet the older person and bow. The older person will usually put out their hand to shake. Women don't usually shake hands. People bow at the beginning and end of meetings.

Koreans don't usually touch each other when they are speaking. It is disrespectful to touch someone on the back or on the arm. The only exception is that friends of the same sex will sometimes hold hands.
