ADVERBS & ADJECTIVES

Look at the these sentences.

1. She is a careful driver. ('driver' is a noun. 'careful' is an adjective. An adjective tells us about the noun.)
2. She drives carefully.
('drives' is a verb. 'carefully' is an adverb. An adverb tells us about the verb.)

Note: Many adverbs end in 'ly'.

Is this an adjective or an adverb?

1. She sings softly.    ADVERB
2. They lived happily ever after.

3. It is a fast car.

4. He talks quickly.

5. She is a quiet singer.

6. That's a big dog!
