BEGINNER - UNIT 2C- GRAMMAR 1 (page 1)

PRESENT SIMPLE TENSE & PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE
Look at these sentences.

Mona plays tennis on Saturdays.(present simple)
Mona is playing tennis now. (present continuous)

We use the present simple to talk about things we usually or often do.
The present simple is the infinitive or basic verb (I/we/they/you play) or the basic verb +s (he/she/it plays).

We use the present continous to talk about things we are doing now.
The present continuous is the infinitive or basic verb +auxilliary +ing (is playing / are playing / am playing).

USUALLY (present simple) NOW (present continuous)
Mona plays tennis on Saturdays.
Lee works on Sundays.
I chat on the Internet after dinner.
Mai and Alan go out for dinner on Fridays.
We eat dinner at 7pm.
The children watch TV after dinner.
Peter drives to work on Mondays.
Yukari plays piano every afternoon.
Mona is playing tennis now.
Lee is working now.
I am chatting on the Internet.
Mai and Alan are going out for dinner.
We are eating dinner now.
The children are watching TV now.
Peter is driving to work.
She is playing piano.
