Kangaroos live in Australia. The biggest kangaroo is the red kangaroo. It is 1.8 metres tall. Kangaroos don't walk or run, they hop. They can hop 6 metres and can travel at up to 45 kilometres per hour.

A baby kangaroo is called a joey. When it is born it is 2 centimetres long. It climbs up the mother's body and into the pouch. It stays there drinking milk for four months. After four months it leaves the mother's pouch, but it continues to come back to the pouch to rest and drink milk until it is nine months old.
