Japan Ready to Strike

You will hear a story about Japan's Self Defence Forces. Listen and put in the missing words.

Since the end of World War 2 Japan has not been involved in wars or fighting. It has taken a pacifist position has not had an army. However, Minister, Junichiro Koizumi, has announced that believes Japan now needs an army.

has a 240,000 strong Self Defence Force. Mr Koizumi to rename it and call it army.

This is the strongest statement a Japanese leader since World War 2 indicates a more aggressive stance.

Mr Koizumi‘s may be in response to a threat from North Korea.
