Dalai Lama Softens Response to China

The Dalai Lama said, 'The situation in Tibet is hopeful.' He believes Tibet might benefit by remaining with China.

He said, 'Today a number of Chinese people are showing interest in the preservation Tibetan culture and spirituality.' He believes that China would gain by Tibet to become more prosperous and preserving Tibet's language, culture and environment.

Although differences the Chinese government and the Dalai Lama remain, both sides are ready to develop dialogue.
