Nuclear Power Plant Accident in Japan

An accident today in a Japanese nuclear power plant killed four people and injured others. One worker is in a critical condition in hospital. It is Japan's worst nuclear power plant accident.

The workers were burned by steam. There was no radioactive material involved.

It is the second fatal accident in a Japanese nuclear power plant. Two workers were killed by radioactivity in 1999. In February this year eight workers were exposed to low levels of radiation in another accident.

30 percent of Japan's electricity is generated in nuclear power plants.
