Voting Begins in South Korea

Around 28 million Koreans will vote for a new president today. There are two candidates, Roh Moo Hyun, from the Millenium Democratic Party and Lee Hoi Chang from the Grand National Party. Results polling will probably be known by 9pm today.

It is an important for Korea and for other countries the region. Relations are delicate at moment amid the rapidly changing international and economic environment. One of the first for the new president will be to the growing international tension over North Korea’s weapons development program.
