At the meeting in Pyongyang the leaders discussed longstanding problems between the two countries. North Korea apologised for kidnapping 11 Japanese twenty years ago. It revealed that 6 have since died of natural causes or disaster, one is missing and 4 are free to return home. North Korea also said it was willing to talk to America and that it would stop missile tests. Mr Koizumi apologised for colonising Korea from 1910 to 1945.
