Botched Surgery

We’ve all heard of cases where surgeons have operated on the wrong leg or the part of the patient. It is a many of us have when we go in surgery. How big is the risk?

Researchers Massachusetts studied 2,826, 367 operations performed 30 hospitals between 1985 and 2004. They 40 cases where doctors had operated on wrong limb or organ.

They found that 62% cases of wrong-site surgery could have been if proper procedures had been followed.
