S
o you want to invest in the sharemarket. Before you start buying shares you have to decide why you want to buy shares. Do you want to invest money for your future? Do you want to make money on dividends? Do you want to be a day trader and earn your income by trading shares?

Investors usually invest in blue chip shares and keep their money in shares for long periods of time – months to years. There are also short term investors who keep their money in shares for a period of weeks to months. Then there are day traders who keep their money in shares for between a day and a week or two. Each has a different investment strategy.
