Elvis Presley is known around the world. He is famous for songs like ‘Love me Tender’ and ‘Return to Sender’.

He born in Mississippi in 1935. His family was poor. They went to church every Sunday. At the church there many black Americans and there a lot of singing. Elvis up listening to gospel music church.

Outside the church listened to black Americans playing blues. He got first guitar in 1946 when he was eleven. He music and particularly loved blues and gospel.

Elvis his first record in 1954. He mixed country music with black gospel and blues. Elvis was very and he moved his hips when he sang. Teenage loved it. Many older people thought it was . They wanted him banned from television. They he was a bad influence. However, he remained and became one of America’s greatest stars.
